Mumbai , Oct. 5 MAIL Boxes Etc Inc (MBE), a subsidiary of UPS, has named Jetair Business Solutions Pvt Ltd as the exclusive master licensee to sell franchised locations of The UPS Store in India. The move initiates UPS' retail expansion in metros across the country and marks the first opening of The UPS Store business centres outside North America. The pilot store is scheduled to open this November in Mumbai and will precede the opening of 150 stores through the first phase of operation. According to Mr Ken Torok, President, Asia-Pacific Region, UPS, the UPS Store would be India's first full-service network of retail outlets that combine packaging, shipping, and other business products with Jet Airways' ticketing services. The retail network will primarily serve small and medium size businesses, mobile workers, SOHOs (small office home office) and private consumers. The UPS Store operates under a Master Licence Agreement between MBE, a wholly owned subsidiary of UPS, and Jetair Business Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Jetair Pvt Ltd. The UPS Store centres are franchised as privately owned and operated businesses. As the master licensee, Jetair will begin taking applications for the purchase of area development franchises and franchised stores by interested parties.
