Hardware Server for Web conferencing Bhatia's Instacool partners Sun Micro Our Bureau
Bangalore , Oct. 20 BANGALORE-BASED Instant Collaboration Software Technologies is partnering Sun Microsystems to deliver an appliance server that will run on the Solaris, version ten, and Linux operating systems. This sales, marketing and technology partnership will now make the appliance available to Sun's customers in India and South-east Asia. Mr Sabeer Bhatia, the founder of Hotmail, set up the company this year. The InstaColl conferencing software is an alternative to e-mails. It helps executives on the move and large project groups to exchange information and stay connected. The appliance is a server that has been configured and optimised for this particular application - conferencing. This server will now be able to run on Solaris operating system. Mr Bhatia, Chairman and Chief Evangelist, InstaColl, said, "We are combining the strengths of the InstaColl collaboration solution with the scalability and security of Sun's operating system and Java Enterprise running on x86 and Opteron processors. This will be a best-of-breed plug-and-play appliance that customers can purchase as a single point premise-located solution." It was initially targeted at small and medium enterprises, larger enterprises, business process outsourcing (BPO) companies and Internet service providers. "The ability to conduct secure, interactive online meeting will help both small and large businesses to significantly increase productivity, agility and responsiveness," said Mr Tirthankar Banerjee, Director, Software Business, Sun Microsystems India.
