PowerGrid bags Afghan project

NEW DELHI: Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PowerGrid) announced on Monday that it has secured its first World Bank funded overseas consultancy assignment from the Ministry of Energy and Water, Government of Afghanistan. PowerGrid has been roped in to provide consultancy for "engineering services for the procurement and installation of OPGW" over a 220KV double circuit transmission line from Kabul to Phul-e-Khmuri, according to a company press release.

The scope for consultancy services ranges from designing and engineering of OPGW and related interface equipments to managing and supervising the delivery and the installation process. According to a press release, the consultancy fee for the assignment is pegged at Rs 1.82 crore ($ 3,99,500).
