Workshop for AP civic bodies leaders

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government has convened a four-day conference of newly elected civic chiefs to give a shape to the urban infrastructure projects and to improve urban governance.

The conference, which would begin on November 25, would be chaired by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

"The workshop has been designed to provide the leaders of civic bodies with a comprehensive approach in tackling the issues confronting them," a Government press release said here on Sunday.

The workshop comprised training modules on urban governance, finances, poverty alleviation and planned urban development. It would help the chiefs of civil bodies prepare themselves for the upcoming World Bank-aided Rs 1,300-crore project for improvement of civic amenities and the Rs 500-crore project to ensure round-the-clock drinking water supply.
