Mumbai , Jan. 9

DAIMLERCHRYSLER India said it has sold 2,019 vehicles in India and the Indian sub-continent during 2005, crossing the 2,000-mark for the first time in its 10-year history.

During this period, the company has also netted the highest-ever sales for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, E-Class and C-Class cars for India.

"Despite major setback from a national perspective like tsunami and Mumbai floods, 2005 has been good for us and we are optimistic about the future,'' the company said in a release.
