Pune , Jan 9

SERVICES company Rapidigm (India) Ltd is all set to launch operations in Dubai and UK.

Mr Vivek Talghatti, Managing Director, Rapidigm, told Business Line that it had identified the Gulf as the growing market for IT services. "We plan to be a one-stop shop for offerings in the supply chain management (SCM), ERP and Business Intelligence segments and would be beginning operations within four months," he said.

The company was looking at onsite-offshore model and in the Oracle application implementation as also support from offshore, he said.

He said the Dubai operation would be handled by 10 people onsite. The company was looking at the development of the market through partners, own business and direct clients. He said it was also registering an office in the UK, which would be catering mostly to the markets of Gulf and Europe.

Mr Talghatti noted that the company's core expertise was in the implementation of enterprise applications such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, eBusiness and managed services. It has a presence in about 28 US cities and three development centres in India, Pune, Noida and Hyderabad and a marketing office in Bangalore.

Asked whether Rapidigm's entry into the country was a little late, Mr Talghatti noted that though the company began operation here only from 2000, it was now all set to ramp it up.

It may be recalled that when Chief Executive Officer of Rapidigm, Mr Lewis P. Wheeler, was in India it had planned an investment of $13 million for its Indian operations and a headcount of about 2,200.

Mr Talghatti noted that Pune operations, the main hub for the company, would be increasing its headcount by 600 employees within the next eight to 12 months.
