Catholic Syrian Bank launches students savings scheme

Coimbatore , Jan. 24

THE Catholic Syrian Bank Ltd (CSB) is launching a Students Support Savings Scheme (SSSS) that enables the account holders to draw money at any VISA co- branded ATMs across the country.

While there is no charge for using the bank's ATMs for withdrawals, for using other bank ATMs that are VISA-enabled, the customers would incur a fee of Rs 20 per withdrawal, according to Dr U.R. Giridharan, Zonal Manager, CSB, Coimbatore.

Speaking to newspersons here on Tuesday, Dr Giridharan said students studying in standard IX and above would be eligible to open this savings account and they could continue to operate the accounts even after completion of their studies. The bank believed that the scheme, apart from providing exposure to handling bank accounts at a young age to the students, would pave the way for long- term relationship with the bank. He said the scheme is being launched across the country by the bank on Wednesday.
