Kolkata , Jan. 26

WEST Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Ltd and the Indian Foundry Association are actively considering setting up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the proposed foundry park in the State.

According Mr S.C. Dugar, President of the association, the SEZ would be spread over 250 acres. The size of the proposed park is 924 acres. Land acquisition is almost over. Mr Dugar was addressing the 54th annual general meeting of the association on Wednesday. He said land prices for the acquisition had been finalised with the landowners after consultation with the West Bengal Government.

The association has formed Foundry Cluster Development Association, a special purpose vehicle, for setting up this park. IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corp Ltd has been appointed as the project manager. Two MoUs have been signed — one on project development services and the other on procurement and management services.
