GAIL confident of meeting consumer demand in summer

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Feb 17

GAIL (India) Ltd today said that following a recent communication from the Government to the Panna-Mukta-Tapti (PMT) consortium to continue supply of six million standard cubic meters of gas per day (MMSCMD) beyond March 2006, broadly on the same terms and conditions, it does not anticipate any difficulty in meeting the consumer demand during the ensuing summer and rabi seasons for want of gas.

GAIL has also contacted the PMT joint venture with an offer to buy entire production at market price on a long-term basis, it added.

As per the production-sharing contract (PSC) between the consortium and the Government, the gas will be received by the Government or its nominee, which in this case is GAIL.
