Bajaj Allianz plans 2 more Vizag branches

Visakhapatnam , Feb. 27

Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company has emerged as the best among private insurers here, according to Mr N. Venkateswara Rao, the senior branch manager.

At a function at its office here to mark the inauguration of Insurance Festival on Monday, he said the Vizag branch had grown at 440 per cent with a business of Rs 8.41 crore this January against Rs 1.91 crore in January, 2005.

He said the branch had eight satellite branches in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts. Two more would be set up shortly — one at Rajam (Srikakulam district) and the other at Tuni (East Godavari). "We are trying to penetrate the rural markets by offering customised solutions to the insurance requirements of our clients," he said.

He said though the LIC had a strong hold on the market, as it had enjoyed monopoly status for so long, there was plenty of room for the private players too. "Only 18 per cent of the population is covered presently and insurance of all sorts has to be sold aggressively," he said.

Prof. K. Malayavasini, Telugu writer, was felicitated on the occasion as she had taken out the first policy from the branch.
