Bangalore , March 6

Udupi is now venturing into IT with the brand Silicon Beach. "IT should not be an urban phenomenon," said Mr Rohith Bhat, President and CEO, Robosoft Technologies, an Udupi-based application development firm. "Tier II cities can also contribute to the State's IT exports," he said.

Robosoft Technologies announced its expansion plans in tune with the 60-70 per cent growth it experienced in the Tier II city. The Rs 12-crore firm is building a new campus that will house 800 software professionals and include modern features such as access control. The facility will be complete by 2008, said Mr Sudheer R. Bhat, Director, Finance, Robosoft.

The company has begun aggressively hiring and will add 250 by the year-end. The company is targeting a turnover of Rs 25 crore next year, he added.

On the infrastructure front, Mr Bhat said the company had not received any subsidies from the Government.
