DEXTEROUS: Mr Dexter C. Bob, Circle Head, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Reliance Webstore Ltd., Chennai, addressing students of the VIT Business School at the inauguration of The Business Line Club at VIT in Vellore. S.S. Kumar
Vellore , March 10 "Hard work is not enough, you should show results." This was amongst the tips offered by Mr Dexter C. Bob, Circle Head-Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Reliance Webstore Ltd, Chennai, to students of the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Business School while inaugurating the Business Line Club here recently. "The hard work that you do should translate itself into results and achievements," he told them, adding that one must also make one's achievements visible. It is the sizzling of the steak that is more attractive than the steak itself. "So, sell the sizzle, not the steak", he said. The other tips were: "be yourself, enjoy the journey, be positive and have goals". He said one should be a first-rate version of oneself instead of being second-rate version of somebody else. "Listen to others better, assimilate the advice better, work within the parameters of your own thoughts and beliefs and fine-tune yourself." Mr Bob called upon the management students to have passion for their work. One can bring about value addition only throughsuch an attitude. It was also important to spend time with family and balance home and work life, he said.
