New Projects Industry & Economy - Non-conventional Energy States - Andhra Pradesh AP CM lays foundation stone for bio-diesel plant Our Bureau
Kakinada , April 2 Bio-diesel is of great importance to meet the energy requirements of the future and, as it also helps the farmers, all attempts should be made to encourage the setting up of bio-diesel plants, said the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy. He was speaking at a meeting at Vakalapudi near here on Saturday night after laying the foundation stone for a Rs 14-crore bio-diesel plant. Mr Ch. Bhaskar, the Managing Director, said the integrated plant would start commercial production by December. It would provide employment to 200 persons directly and indirect employment to several thousands in the farm sector. Farmers in the arid and semi-arid zones of the State in particular would be benefited, he added. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister attended several programmes in East Godavari district. He launched the Indiramma scheme at West Kandriga village in the district. The scheme is intended to provide basic amenities in villages. The Chief Minister said the Government was ready to spend Rs 9,000 crore every year on the scheme.
Inaugurates flight
Earlier, he also inaugurated the flight of Air Deccan from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said the State Government had ambitious plans to develop infrastructure in the State. Greenfield airports would be constructed at six places in the State - Karimnagar, Khammam, Kadapa and three other places. "Real development is possible only when air connectivity is provided to smaller towns,'' he said and appreciated the efforts of Air Deccan in that direction. Captain Gopinath, the Managing Director of Air Deccan, thanked the Chief Minister and said his airline would make use of all the airports to be built in the State. "It is our aim to provide low-cost, safe aviation to the common man,'' he added.
