Human Resources States - Kerala Software to aid Kerala Govt staff in pay revision options Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , April 13 The Kerala Government has released a "service consultant" software to help employees and teachers make their options under the terms of pay revision. Employees and teachers are allowed to make their options only once during the pay revision. This means that they will suffer losses if proper assessments are not made before giving the options. The software, developed by Mr Anirudhan Nilamel, a Research Officer in the Economics and Statistics Department, suggests the date from which an employee should opt for pay revision to get the maximum benefits. The employee must provide inputs such as date of birth, date of entry into service, current designation, salary scale, and basic pay. Within seconds, the computer will decide the option date that will give the maximum benefits to the employee. A printout will provide the method by which the salary has been determined, option form, and the fixation statement. The computer will conduct at least five checks before deciding on the most beneficial option. According to an official statement, all employees and teachers in the State will be able to avail themselves of the software service free of charge. Mr Nilamel had developed a software in 2003 for calculating dearness allowance (DA) arrears. The software helped calculate the arrears soon after the announcement of additional DA. While it takes hours even for persons well-versed in service matters to calculate the most beneficial option for an employee, the "service consultant" software does it within 30 seconds. The employees will be able to access the service of the software through the official Government Web site.
