Dubai co sets up offshore unit in Chennai

Esquire Systems, a Dubai-based software company, has launched its first offshore development centre in Chennai. The 10,000 sq ft facility has a seating capacity for 150 software developers and is expected to run to full capacity within two weeks, according to the company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Anil S. Nair. It plans to add another 20,000 sq ft by mid-June and increase the number of employees to about 300. It would add another 15,000 sq ft by the year-end. The Rs 15-crore expansion would be funded internally, he told newspersons. According to Mr Nair, the company plans to have about 1,000 employees by the year-end. It currently has 107 employees in Dubai and a small office in Bangalore. The company also plans to set up a facility in Kuala Lumpur to target the South East Asian markets, he said. It had revenues of $6-7 million last year, which it hoped to double this year.
