Outlook Schneider bullish on Indian arm Our Bureau,

Bangalore , May 13 Schneider Electric, power and control specialist company, is open to acquisition in India but its priority is to focus on building upon its business through its existing facilities and the innovation centre to expand its market.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Jean-Pascal Tricoire, President & CEO, Schneider Electric, said the Indian subsidiary was set to play a key role in its emphasis on technology driven innovations to provide its global business a greater strength.
He said India itself would be an important market with its increasing usage of alternative energy sources for which Schneider could provide technologies.

Pilot projects
Schneider Electric will be implementing pilot projects to test powerline carrier to use power transmission lines as telecom carrier for broadband purpose, Mr Tricoire said.
The company had started work on one project with a power utility and another would be executed shortly. The products developed for the purpose would be exported from India. Such carriers would provide cost-effective solutions.
He said India was core to the company's growth plan as it is not only a growing market, but also contributing significantly to the research and development, besides software development.
