Sankar Radhakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram , June 24

Hotel Leela Venture Ltd is looking at entering the West Asian market.

According to Mr Peter Leitgeb, President, The Leela Palaces and Resorts, the company is actively looking at entering into operating and management contracts for hotels in the West Asian region. These hotels will be super deluxe properties, in keeping with The Leela brand's positioning.

As a prelude to the company's possible foray into the West Asian region, it is setting up marketing offices in London and Dubai, he added.

In India, the company expects to open The Leela Kempinski in Gurgaon near New Delhi by August next year, he said. The hotel will have 319 rooms and 90 serviced apartments. The company had recently signed an agreement with Ambience Hotels and Resorts Ltd to manage this hotel. Similarly, the company's 84-room hotel in Udaipur is scheduled to welcome its first guests by September next year, Mr Leitgeb added.

The exclusive `club' wing of the company's hotel at Kovalam near Thiruvananthapuram would be ready by the end of August this year, Mr Leitgeb said. The `club' wing will have 57 luxurious rooms and suites and will offer guests a range of special facilities, he added.
