Manufacturing growth healthy: CII

Lead and lead alloy, sponge iron, switchgears, motor starters, circuit breakers, fluid power, boilers, power transformers, textile machinery, cars, beer and mustard oil were among the 34 sectors that reported 20 per cent growth or above for the April-June period of the current year as compared to a similar period last year, finds a CII survey.

As many as 1,000 companies across the country participated in the survey.

Paints, polymers, plastics, water equipment, drugs and pharmaceuticals were some of the sectors that recorded 10-20 per cent growth during the period, according to the chamber's survey on the manufacturing sector.

As many as 34 of the 140 sectors reporting production in the country recorded a growth rate of 20 per cent or above. Another 56 sectors of the 140 sectors reporting production recorded a growth rate of 10-20 per cent, while 36 sectors reported 10 per cent or less.

Fourteen sectors reported negative growth for the period, finds the chamber's survey on the manufacturing sector.

Of the 78 sectors reporting sales, 26 sectors registered growth rate of 20 per cent or above. Another 28 sectors registered 10-20 per cent growth in sales, while 18 sectors reported sales growth of 10 per cent or less. Six sectors recorded negative growth, according to the survey.
