The Chhattisgarh Government will recommend grant of mining lease for Deposit 13 in favour of NMDC.
Hyderabad , Aug. 3 The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) here and the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (CMDC) have signed a memorandum of understanding for exploiting new mines. A joint venture is being formed to develop Bailadila-13 deposit in the State. The Chhattisgarh Government will recommend grant of mining lease for Deposit 13 in favour of NMDC. The NMDC, under the Union Ministry of Mines, will develop a mine with an annual capacity of 10 million tonnes, according to Mr B. Ramesh Kumar, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). It is also proposed to take up the development of Bailadila-1 mines through the proposed Joint Venture with CMDC, he said in his address to the Annual General Meeting (AGM), here recently. The NMDC, which has a production of 22.90 million tonnes per annum of iron ore is targeting 48.75 million tonnes by 2015-16. This would be achieved by increasing production from existing mines and opening new ones. Some of these are the Bailadila-11/B with an annual capacity of seven mt, Kumaraswamy iron ore mine in Karnataka with an initial three mt capacity, to be later scaled up to seven mt.
