`Onam week' from tomorrow

The annual `Onam week' celebrations being organised by Kerala Tourism will begin on Sunday. The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, will inaugurate the State-level `Onam week' celebrations at a function to be held in the city on Sunday. The `Onam week' celebrations will end on September 9.

A highlight of the inaugural ceremony will be a cultural programme to be presented by over 1,000 artists. While the inaugural ceremony will be held in the city's Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, the Kanakakunnu Palace will be the hub of the celebrations in the city and will play host to a food festival and a trade fair. Various cultural programmes will be organised at several venues across the city. According to Kerala Tourism officials, `Onam week' will be celebrated in Kochi and Kozhikode, and also in various districts.
