Software Newgen Publishing in pact with Parametric Tech Our Bureau
Chennai , Sept. 12 Chennai-based Newgen Publishing and Data Services has signed a deal with Parametric Technology Corporation (India) Private Ltd to obtain a licence for Parametric's enterprise publishing software "Arbortext". The size of the deal was not disclosed but Mr Maran Elancheran, General Manager - Operations, Newgen Publishing and Data Services, said one software licence could be used by up to 160 people depending on the complexity of projects. Arbortext is an XML based software and will help automate and customise operations of Newgen Publishing. It will also help disburse content into different channels such as Web, printing and e-mail. Using Arbortext would bring down the total time taken for book publishing from about 35 weeks to about 22 weeks, said Mr Elancheran. Newgen Publishing is investing about Rs 7.5 crore for a new office in Chennai. The company has two offices in Chennai and one in Bangalore. The new Chennai office, occupying about 30,000 sq ft, will also house a design studio. The studio will help the company look at technical publishing (journals and scientific manuscripts), said Mr Elancheran. Newgen Publishing expects revenues of about $15 million (Rs 67.5 crore) by March as opposed to $10 million (Rs 45 crore) in 2005-06. About 90 per cent of the company's revenues comes from the US and UK, said Mr Elancheran.
