US co software for R&D centre

Sai's BioSciences Research Institute Pvt Ltd (SBRI), an institute for research and development in bioinformatics and medical informatics, has announced a memorandum of understanding with Accelrys Software Inc (US) here on Monday.

Mr Niels Nielsen, Senior Director, Accelrys, said that the MoU would be a training partnership whereby the software company would license out software to SBRI and train the institute's faculty in bioinformatics.

Ms D. Malathi, Technical Director, SBRI, said that there would be several courses on offer, including a PG Diploma in Bioinformatics and a PG Diploma in Cheminformatics and Drug Designing, both for three months.

Apart from that there would be a diploma course in Computer Aided Drug Designing that would last for 45 days. A joint certificate would be issued upon the completion of any of these courses.
