Gateway Human Resources, a training company, plans to start training undergraduate students and lecturers at educational institutes, particularly in arts and science colleges in Tamil Nadu.
This measure is aimed at bridging the gap between corporate requirements and skills of students. "Corporate interactions have helped us understand what companies expect from fresh graduates", said Mr N. Swaminaathan, Chief Consultant, Gateway Human Resources.
The two- day training programme for students will focus on employment skills, presentation skills and personality skills and will be conducted by professional trainers with over 10 years experience.
The programme will be interactive and include modules like written assessment tests, group discussions and extempore public speaking.
Assessment tests have been designed in such a way that a candidate would be able to identify his strengths and weaknesses and work on them, said Mr Swaminaathan.
The company will start the training programmes in tier-II cities in Tamil Nadu in the coming months. Colleges will be charged Rs 30,000 for a two-day programme and can also opt for a day-long programme.
