New Delhi , Dec. 2 A total 27.43 lakh tonnes (lt) out of the 55 lt imported wheat contracted by State Trading Corporation (STC) for the Union Government have so far been discharged or are under discharge in various ports of the country. In addition, 5.89 lt of wheat are in vessels anchored in ports, taking the cumulative quantity to have arrived on Indian shores to 33.32 lt as on November 28, the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Dr Akhilesh Prasad Singh, has informed the Rajya Sabha. Of the total arrived quantities, 20.02 lt have already been moved to various depots of Food Corporation of India (FCI). The weighted average price at which STC contracted the 55 lt tonnes of wheat through five tenders worked out to $205.31 per tonne CIF (cost, insurance, freight) or nearly Rs 9.25 per kg.
