O&M ties up with Marka for Bangladesh foray

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Dec. 19

Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide and Marka have signed an agreement to establish a full-service brand communications and advertising agency in Bangladesh. O&M will own majority stake in the new agency, which will operate under the name Ogilvy & Mather Communications Private Ltd. Ogilvy & Mather Communications' clients will include Ogilvy's worldwide and regional clients as well as companies currently being serviced by Marka.

"This new Bangladesh agency completes the foundation to our South Asia strategy", says Mr Miles Young, Chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific.

"We have a strong network in India and we just established fully owned operations in Pakistan. At the same time, Marka is well known as a nimble, solutions-oriented player in the local market. This new agency is an opportunity for us to provide our clients with seamless service across South Asia and to marry global resources with the best local know-how in order to do what I believe we do best - lead by example - in this fast-developing market."
