Bangalore, Feb. 7

Indian is all set to become the first airline in the country to induct the wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4000-100 engines. Two A330 aircraft are scheduled to join Indian's fleet later this year.

A ceremonial document to this effect was signed by Mr Vishwapati Trivedi, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian and Mr Jame Masotti, Vice-President, Commercial Engines and Services for Asia Pacific of Pratt & Whitney, at the Aero India 2007 exhibition here. The document celebrates the continuation of the 50-year-old association between Indian and Pratt & Whitney.

After signing the document, Mr Trivedi said, "It is a matter of pride to be the first to be inducting the high performance wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft. We are also happy to be associated with a reliable engine manufacturer like Pratt & Whitney.
