Bird Group, Dusit Hotels in tie-up

New Delhi, March 15

The Bird Group, under its wholly owned subsidiary Bird Hospitality Services, on Thursday announced a tie-up with the Thailand-based, Dusit Hotels and Resorts to develop six hotels and resorts here. "We plan to develop hotels in a phased manner.

In the first phase, three properties will come up in Delhi, Goa and Rishikesh, which should be operational by 2010. In the third phase, which is likely to be completed by 2016, we should also have hotels in Hyderabad and Bangalore," the Executive Director, Bird Group, Mr Ankur Bhatia, said.

Bird Hospitality Services is to invest $200 million on the development of the first three properties, Mr Bhatia said and added that the funds would be generated through internal accruals. The Group plans to develop either four-or-five star category of hotels.
