Software Industry & Economy - SSI HP plans to focus more on small, medium segments Archana Venkat
Chennai March 18 Hewlett-Packard (HP) plans to intensify its focus on the small and medium business (SMB) segment next fiscal (2007-08). As of now, it addresses 16 micro verticals such as textiles, auto ancillary and pharmaceuticals under the manufacturing vertical and co-operative banks, rural regional banks, non-banking financial companies under its banking vertical. According to Mr Ashok Pamidi, Director-Commercial Accounts, SMB and Enterprise Partners, HP, the company is working on creating dedicated solutions within sub-verticals. To leverage these solutions to prospective clients, the company is expanding its partner network besides setting up 22 offices across tier II and tier III cities in the country. The company plans to add about 3,000 new SMB clients next fiscal, Mr Pamidi told Business Line. The average size of an SMB deal is between $10,000 and $32,000. To build up this clientele, the company is conducting pre-sales training programmes for partners.
