R. Ravikumar

Decides to focus on notebook PCs in coming years

Chennai May 6 LG Electronics India is all set to launch desktop PCs with finger-print access security feature by the end of this month.

Focussing more on the commercial PC market, the company is planning to launch a new range of desktops — X-Protect — that will have both access and data security features built-in, Mr R. Manikandan, Business Group Head, IT Division, LG Electronics India, said.

The desktop range is to be priced at Rs 27,000 onwards, depending upon the configuration.

The company also soft-launched a range of Tablet PCs — XNote C1 on Saturday. This dual-core processor-based notebook that features finger-touch input, auto-sensing technology and enhanced security system, weighs 1.3 kg.

More notebooks

Pointing out that there is a significant growth in demand for notebook PCs, he said at present the desktop to notebook ratio is 70:30. "The demand for notebook PCs will grow further and the ratio will become 50:50 by 2010. So, to align ourselves with the market trend, we have decided to roll out more notebook models in the years to come," he said.
