Hyderabad May 11 7Seas Technologies Ltd is launching an online gaming portal with over 100 games with Indianised themes. The portal, onlinerealgames.com, would be formally launched on May 13 with free registration facility. "From concept to design and execution, entire development cycle of these games are done by our 100-strong team here," Mr L Maruti Sanker, Managing Director, 7Seas Technologies, told reporters here on Friday. Most of the games revolve around popular Indian countryside scenes such as cock fighting, animal husbandry and hunting. "We want to create a distinct identity to Indian countryside and its popular fables," he said. The registered users can play the games for free in seven Indian languages apart from English.
Earlier, the company developed a PC causal game, 3D SuDoKu World that was distributed to TryMedia, a division of Macromedia Corporation. "We also want to focus on game testing services," he added.
For revenue generation, 7Seas would depend on licensing and selling of its games to other portals, in-game advertising, among others. It is also planning to enter into partnerships with Microsoft Corporation, mobile handset manufacturers, telecom companies, Mr Sanker said.
According to Nasscom estimates, the value of Indian gaming industry is estimated at $424 million while globally it is pegged at $42 billion.
