Thiruvananthapuram May 19 The Kerala Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, on Saturday laid the foundation stone for Infosys' software development campus in Thiruvananthapuram. Speaking on the occasion, he said every district of Kerala welcomes investments from companies such as Infosys. Infosys, which started operations in Kerala in 2004 in the Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, currently has around 1,200 employees working in this facility that has been leased. It has also leased 40,000 sq.ft. of space in the new Tejaswini building at the Technopark Thiruvananthapuram. According to Mr K. Dinesh, Director, Infosys Technologies Ltd, the company's own campus will be able to accommodate around 1,500 people once the first phase of construction is complete. The 50-acre campus is expected to involve an investment of Rs 306 crore and its five buildings will eventually be able to accommodate approximately 8,000 employees, he said.
