OBC new branch in eastern region

Our Bureau

Kolkata, June 13

Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) will open on Thursday a branch at Kasba in the southern area of the city as part of its expansion drive in the eastern region. With this, the bank's total number of branches in the eastern region will rise to 43, according to Mr R.M. Sharma, General Manager of OBC in charge of eastern region.

OBC, as Mr Sharma points out, has plans to open seven more branches in the region in the current financial year - three each in West Bengal and Assam and one in Sikkim. All the new branches will offer core banking solutions and have ATMs and other high-tech facilities. Right now the bank has 28 offsite ATMs in the region, including 24 in the city and has plans to install five more in the city.

Attracting retail customers as well as corporate clients, it is indicated, will be the thrust of the bank's marketing strategy in the eastern region. "For retail customers, we're already offering Platinum and CASA Deposit Schemes promising high returns," Mr Sharma adds.
