Airtel in pact with HTC for touch screen mobile

New Delhi June 15 Bharti Airtel on Friday announced an exclusive arrangement with Taiwan-based High Tech Computers to offer mobile services on its Microsoft Windows Mobile platform-based handheld device.

Priced at Rs 19,900, the HTC Touch device would be available from next week for Airtel users in 10 cities, which include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Jaipur. Bharti had earlier entered into a similar tie-up with Research in Motion for offering Blackberry handsets. The HTC handheld device offers access to Outlook email and Microsoft Office applications with Windows Mobile 6.

New technology

"Our partnership with HTC to introduce India's First TouchFLO technology featured mobile phone underlines our commitment to innovation," said Mr Sanjay Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel.
