Med Vista launches school healthcare programme

Our Bureau

Kochi, Sept 5 Med Vista Healthcare Solutions India Pvt Ltd is introducing a school healthcare programme here to address the need for professional healthcare analysis and special education among school children.

The programme, which is designed for the age group of 0-17, is developed by a team of doctors, speech language pathologists, audiologists, psychologists and nutritionists at school sites.

Mr Samir Rahman, Officer, Med Vista, said that the programme is designed for progressive monitoring of a student’s development from infancy to adult stage. This facilitates early detection of deficiencies that could hinder the future performance of students. The health check up aims towards identification of existing problems at early stages before it becomes chronic or irreversible.

He said that the nutritionists involved in the programme evaluate the BMI and recommend health food habits. Speech language evaluation in school system helps to screen, diagnose and refer students with articulation, fluency, voice, communication and swallowing disabilities at the very early stage of their development and recommend corrective measures, he added.

Psychologists of the programme use proven methods for evaluating student behaviour, stress management and learning disabilities.

The annual check up is introduced at an affordable price of Re1 per day and Med Vista has signed up with several leading CBSE schools in Kerala for providing this service, he said, adding that the company is also in touch with the State Government to introduce the programme in Government schools.

Mr Pradessh Thomas, Officer, Med Vista, said that the objective of the programme is to bring a healthy next generation considering the WHO study that more than 30 per cent of young population is overweight, which leads to obesity.
