SAP sees India major driver of growth

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Nov. 28 German software company SAP, which provides business solutions for various industries and markets, sees India as a major driver of growth within the SAP ecosystem.

There has been tremendous growth from the Indian market with several Indian customers and partners embracing solutions within the SAP ecosystem and communities with great gusto, said the company. “Over the past year, Indian customers and partners have more than doubled their membership and activities within SAP communities, showing India as a driving force in the SAP ecosystem,” said a company release. The SAP developer network (SDN) and business process expert communities in India have grown to nearly two lakh members in the last year – a 100 per cent increase. This was announced at the SAP TEchEd 07 technology event in the city.

(The SDN and business process expert communities enable customers to interact with IT and business professionals around the world to share expertise and best practices related to SAP solutions.)

SAP is looking to add more than 5,000 customers and partners to discuss “how to better harness the power and flexibility of enterprise SOA to transform existing business processes.” Enterprise SOA (service oriented architecture) is a business solution offered by SAP. India is one of our global hubs. We have about 4,000 people in R&D in Gurgaon and Bangalore. This country has a lot of highly skilled people, said Mr Claus Neumann, President, SAP Labs India. SAP Labs has invested €20 million to build phases 1 and 2 of the SAP Labs India campus.
