Our Bureau

New Delhi, Jan 3 The History Channel on Thursday said that it will air the history of cricket in its programme — Face Off — starting from January 15, in collaboration with cricinfo.com in view of the ongoing India-Australia series.

The programme will be on air for four weeks capturing some of the greatest moments of India-Australia encounters.

As part of the initiative, The History Channel will air entertaining interstitials that throw light on incidents and anecdotes from the matches played between the two countries. A contest has also been developed wherein one lucky winner will win a holiday trip for two to Sydney. The winners will also watch the India - Australia match on February 24 in Adelaide. Viewers can participate by sending a SMS ‘IA’ to 57827 or by logging onto cricinfo.com. More information on the interactive contest can be found on the channel’s Web site. The contest will be promoted on the channel and also through on-ground activity across media agencies.

The History Channel will also organise on-ground quiz challenges that will test participants’ knowledge around the cricketing moments. The quizzes will be organised in Delhi and Mumbai wherein viewers will compete as two member teams. The activity will be promoted on The History Channel and National Geographic Channel. In addition to these a comprehensive online and on-ground campaign has also been planned.
