Adobe to leverage rise in online ads

Coimbatore, Feb. 28 “India is experiencing a communication explosion and the creative industry is growing at a rapid pace. Adobe is well positioned to propel growth with offerings such as the Creative Suite 3.0,” says Adobe Systems Marketing Director (Asia Pacific) Mr Mark Phibbs.

Mr Phibbs, who was in the country, said the India market was not only significant for the company but an interesting one too. “The tech savvy population is on the rise here compared to Singapore, Hong Kong or Australia. We have the highest number of developers in India,” he said.

The company has more than doubled its team size from 650 in 2006 to about 1,400 now.

Underscoring the role that the team in India has played in supporting the company’s growth strategy, he said, “We already see the forces of change with sharp increase in advertisement spend being focused on the Internet. At the current pace, I expect the Web to overtake the print media within the next two years. The creative population is on the rise,” he added

He said the release of Adobe Creative Suite 3.0 reflected the integration between Adobe and Macromedia and the company’s products ability to bridge the gap between designers and developers.

To a query on Adobe’s investment plans, he maintained that “it would be huge” and did not quantify. But reports reveal that the company, had about three years back, indicated its plans to invest about $200 million in India over five years.
