Promotions & Offers Variety - Sports Edelweiss is title sponsor for ICL
Former skipper and Chairman, Executive Board, India Cricket League, Kapil Dev (right), and Mr Rashesh Shah, Chairman, Edelweiss Group, at a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday. Our Bureeau Mumbai, March 5 Diversified financial services company Edelweiss Capital Ltd is the title sponsor for the upcoming Indian Cricket League (ICL) tournament, scheduled to commence on March 9. The series will be called Edelweiss 20s Challenge. The terms and conditions of the deal are being kept under wraps and will not be disclosed. “We are looking for sponsors who believe in us, I am not impressed by big figures of Rs 300-400 crore, so I don’t want to announce those,” said Kapil Dev, Chairman, Executive Board, ICL. The time frame for the association was not revealed, but Mr Rashesh Shah, Chairman, Edelweiss Group, said, “We would like this tie-up to be for eternity. From being business-to-business players, we are going to be business-to-consumer players and associations such as this one, will help us leverage our brand value.” The team sponsors are being finalised and would be announced later this week, said Mr Himanshu Modi, Business Head, Essel Group. The Lahore and Ahmedabad teams were added to the list of teams, taking the number to eight. The series comprising 34 matches will be played at Chandigarh (Panchkula), Hyderabad and Gurgaon and broadcast on Ten Sports and Zee Sports.
