Sports Variety - People 14 of Under-19 team picked at IPL auction Our Bureau Mumbai, March 11 The Under-19 squad, which won the World Cup at Kuala Lumpur, was in the limelight at the second round of auction of players on Tuesday, for the Indian Premier League (IPL) event, which kicks off on April 18. Fourteen players in the Under-19 squad were picked up by the eight franchisees of IPL. They were contracted at a pre-determined sum of $30,000 each for a period of one year. As the franchisees do not have a say in the choice of these players, a lot system, common in international leagues, was adopted. Captain Virat Kohliwill play for Vijay Mallya’s Royal Challengers, Bangalore, while the other most sought-after players – Pradeep Sangwan, Tanmay Srivastav and Siddharth Kaul – would play for teams Delhi, Mohali and Kolkata, respectively.
