Sumeru Academy, Bloomfield tie up

Pune, April 14 Sumeru Academy of Digital Arts in collaboration with the US-based Bloomfield College has launched its first training centre in the city to offer specialised programmes in animation, filmmaking and 3D animation.

Sumeru Academy is the training and production division of Shiv Sai Infosys Inc, a BPO company with headquarters in the US and delivery centre in Pune.

Talking to presspersons, Mr Dhiraj Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Sumeru and Mr John Towsen, Professor of Bloomfield College, said it would be offering advanced diploma programme of duration of 18 months and 3D expert programme, duration of six months. The fee would be Rs 1,70,000 and Rs 60,000, respectively. The initial intake would be around 50 students. He said that the academy is also opening up a second centre in Pune and in Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi. These centres would be operational by April 2009.

The curriculum is based on international standards and students would get production experience through partnerships with national and international animation houses and could participate in 2D and 3D animation projects. Students would also have the option of international exchange programme to pursue further education at Bloomfield College and foreign languages and communications skills would also be taught. Students would get the certification from Bloomfield and Sumeru, he added.
