Airlines Lufthansa to start ‘all business class’ flight to Pune Ashwini Phadnis New Delhi, April 16 German airline Lufthansa could soon be operating an all-business class flight directly to Pune from Germany. The Indian Government has allowed Lufthansa to fly six-times-a-week to Pune using an aircraft that can seat a maximum of 60 passengers on every flight. Small aircraftThis decision paves the way for Lufthansa to look at operating small aircraft offering all business class seats to Pune. The airline had earlier hinted at operating such flights if it was allowed by the air services bilateral with India. Lufthansa started operating all business class services late last year when it offered six-flights a week between Frankfurt and Newark (New York) that provided 44 lie-flat seats. The start of the Pune service is likely to prove a boon to several Germany companies such as Daimler Chrysler that have their facilities in and around the city. Lufthansa along with Swiss (which it acquired) operates regular services from Munich, Frankfurt and Zurich to several cities here using large aircraft that seat more than 200 passengers. Lufthansa operates a daily flight from here to Frankfurt and Munich, apart from operating a daily service from Mumbai to Frankfurt. At the moment, the Japanese carrier ANA is the only airline that operates an all-business class flight to India. The airline flies six times a week between Mumbai and Tokyo.
