Thiruvananthapuram, June 5 Toonz Academy, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based Toonz Entertainment Pte Ltd, has announced the opening of its animation training centres in Ahmedabad and Indore.

On the cards are more training centres in cities such as Bangalore, Chennai and Coimbatore, said a company spokesperson. The company also plans an international foray with training centres in China, West Asia and Africa.

Toonz Academy, which was established in 2002 as the in-house training department of its sister company Toonz Animation India Pvt Ltd, currently has animation training centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Nagpur.

According to Mr S. Ramaprasad, Executive Director, Toonz Academy, the company’s “close association with the production house Toonz Animation, enables us to tailor the course curriculum with more industry insights, which in turn helps our students to explore lucrative careers with ease”.

The company’s training centres, including the two new ones, offer a 12-month ‘advanced diploma in digital arts and animation’ in addition to short-term courses. The diploma is awarded in association with the European Carolus Magnus University, Belgium, and fulfils the requirements of a European vocational qualification, the spokesperson said. Next year, the company also plans to start a three-year degree course in animation.
