Mumbai, June 18 It is a dream that will give India’s film producers a leg-up in Hollywood.

Is there a chance of joint venture happening between Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks and Reliance Big Entertainment?

Having taken big strides in film production, Reliance Big Entertainment seems to be taking it from ‘big to bigger’. Having announced a funding arrangement with eight Hollywood producers in Cannes, this May, all indications point to it taking its Hollywood ambitions to the very top.

Mr Rajesh Sawhney, President, Reliance Big Entertainment, in a guarded tone said: “A joint venture is a sensitive issue at this stage and officially we will make an announcement regarding the same at an appropriate time. However, we have already announced our partnerships with leading Hollywood talent at Cannes recently.”

The deal appears to be in the offing, indicate overseas media reports that claim that Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks and Reliance Big Entertainment, are in talks. And, the joint venture company may have about $1.5 billion capital including debt and equity components.

When contacted, Mr Amit Khanna, Chairman of Reliance Big Entertainment, gave nothing away, while talking of the current scenario. “There is no deal although we are looking at the international market and it depends on whether we would want to have a joint venture. Currently, we have decided to produce 100 films over the next two years with an investment of $1 billion.”

Company insiders point out those funding Hollywood productions is entirely different from entering into a joint venture and that such kind of arrangements took time.
