NDTV Q1 profit at Rs 2.08 cr

New Delhi, July 31 NDTV Ltd has reported a profit of Rs 2.08 crore for the first quarter ended June 30 against a loss of Rs 2.15 crore in the year-ago period.

The revenue during the quarter increased by 56 per cent to Rs 95.5 crore against Rs 61.21 crore in the corresponding period last year.

The group has posted a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 524 crore, which includes an exceptional amount of Rs 642 crore arising on dilution by subscription of shares by the US-based NBCU in an overseas subsidiary.

The fund raising of over Rs 600 crore from NBCU would be utilised for the group’s expansion plans in India, the company said.

New company

NDTV informed the BSE that the board of directors has approved the setting up of a new company for building infrastructure in the form of studio, production facilities wherein offshore subsidiary(ies) of the company will invest up to $150 million as Cumulative Convertible Preference Shares or any other instrument as deemed appropriate.
