Dumping probe on nylon tyre cord fabric initiated

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct. 4 The Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into the import of nylon tyre cord fabric from Belarus, following a complaint by domestic industry represented by the Association of Synthetic Fibre industry.

In a notification to be gazetted, the Authority said the association filed an application for initiation of dumping probe on behalf of domestic producers SRF Ltd and Century Enka Ltd.

The product under probe is nylon tyre cord fabric (NTCF), which is meant largely for tyre cord. Its application is in different kinds of automotive tyres. NTCF is produced in a number of deniers and is used for the reinforcement of tyres.

The Authority said the applicants have furnished evidence about the injury as a result of the alleged dumping in the form of fall in their market share due to increased volume of dumped imports resulting in price undercutting, lost sales and decline in return on capital employed for the domestic industry.

The period of investigation is from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008, while the injury investigation however covers the period of fiscal years 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 over and above the period of investigation.
