Human Resources Big FM, Access plan training programmes Our Bureau Chennai, Oct. 16 The “boom of the FM radio” has resulted in a mismatch between demand and supply of talent and a joint venture of Big FM and Access Atlantech Education Ltd seeks to plug this gap. The joint venture provides formal training for those who want to get into the radio industry. The training programmes are to be conducted in ten cities across the country. According to Mr Tarun Katial, Chief Operating Officer, Big FM, those trained under the programme would be absorbed easily by the industry. Addressing a press conference on the occasion of the passing out of the first batch of students, Mr Katial and Mr Rathish Babu, CEO, Access Atlantech, said that there would be many more radio-oriented courses in the coming months. On the viability of the radio as a media stream, he felt that it depended a lot on the strength of retail presence in the regions, as the retail sector contributes to almost 50 per cent of radio revenues. Big FM is the first Indian venture in the field to have a radio station outside the country, in Singapore. “We are looking to expand further, both in India and overseas,” said Mr Katial.
