New Delhi, Nov. 7 German luxury car manufacturer Audi launched the R8 here on Friday.

The 4,163-cc luxury vehicle is priced at Rs 1.17 crore in Delhi before sales tax and transportation costs.

Addressing the media after launching the car, the Managing Director, Audi India, Mr Benoit Tiers, said that the car manufacturer hopes to be sell 15 to 20 models of R-8 next year.

“India is a very crucial market for us and we are keen to expand our presence here. We are seeing tremendous growth. During the 10-month period ending October this year as compared to the previous, there has been a 312 per cent increase in sales with Audi delivering 884 cars,” said Mr Tiers.

The R-8 is to be imported from Germany and there is likelihood of a waiting period between two and three months from the time a customer books the car to delivery, officials said.

The luxury car manufacturer plans to appoint five dealers next year to cover the country, Mr Tiers said.
