`3G auction in 3 months of GoM report'

New Delhi, July 1

The Communications and IT Minister, Mr A. Raja, said that the auction for third generation spectrum will be completed within three months of the Group of Ministers giving its report. A Group of Ministers headed by the Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, would be set up soon to look into the issues relating to the 3G spectrum pricing and the number of slots to be auctioned.

"A GoM will be constituted any moment. It will be headed by the Finance Minister and within three months from the report of the GoM, the process to auction spectrum will be completed," Mr Raja said on the sidelines of a stamp release function hosted by IOC. The Communications Ministry had earlier said that the auctions would be completed by September. Revenue estimates from the auction are expected to be mentioned in the Budget to be presented on July 6. - Our Bureau
