New Delhi, July 1 The Minister for Environment and Forests, Mr Jairam Ramesh, on Wednesday announced that the Web site for Environmental and Forestry Clearances has been made more accessible and user-friendly.

The status of all pending cases for clearance under the Forest Conservation Act (1980) is being put up on the Ministry’s Web site, with the status of applications to be updated on a weekly basis every Friday.

Launching the revamped Web site here, Mr Ramesh said this is a part of an ongoing initiative to make the work of the Ministry “more professional, transparent and responsive”. Further steps will be taken in this regard in the near future, which will include making the application process for environmental and forestry clearances online.
