Rubber Industry & Economy - Exports & Imports Rubber exports exceed 50,000 t Aravindan
Kottayam , Feb. 6 RUBBER export from the country has exceeded 51,000 tonnes during the current fiscal. This includes the period till January 2004. The target fixed for 2003-04 was 50,000 tonnes. As per the present indications, rubber export might be over 60,000 tonnes by March-end. By exporting rubber, the prices in the domestic market could be brought to international level, Rubber Board sources said. The rubber was exported mainly to China, the US, Japan, Russia, Australia, the UAE, Turkey, Singapore etc. Half of the total consignment exported belonged to value-added category. A major portion exported up to January was sheet rubber RSS 4. The export even beyond the target shows the wide acceptance of Indian rubber from international buyers based on quality specifications. The country could get foreign exchange worth Rs 201 crore by way of rubber export.
